This coffee is located in the Sidamo coffee-growing region in the southern part of Ethiopia. Yirgacheffe is the name of the town where the coffee is grown-one of the highest elevations in Ethiopia at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level. The region has two rainy periods throughout the year, the light one beginning in January and lasting through February. Heavier rains come later in the year lasting from June through September. The soil is mostly volcanic in composition. The beans are harbested between the months of October and December and the coffee is prepared using the wet method and is dried on concrete patios. The Yiragacheffe bean is small to medium in size with a greenish color. Featuring a fair acidity with a thin body, it has a unique floral-blueberryish flavor, a well-rounded coffee. These beans are ready for exportation between the months of December and March.
